Description
Edinburgh’s Robin Chapel was built by the Tudsbery family in 1950 as a permanent memorial to their son Robin. He had spent nine months at the start of World War II guarding the young Princess Elizabeth and her sister Margaret before being tragically killed just days before the end of the war.
In addition to creating a beautiful chapel, the family also made provision for a professional choir to sing a choral service at 4pm every Sunday. To mark the 80th anniversary of Robin’s death the Robin Chapel Choir will be undertaking a number of special events including concerts in Dunfermline, Linlithgow and Edinburgh along with a tour to Germany where they will perform in Hannover and at Robin’s final resting place in Becklingen war cemetery.
In addition to the Fauré Requiem the choir will be performing Hubert Parry’s wonderful Songs of Farewell and his rousing and popular anthem I was glad.
