Chris Greive began his musical life in Perth, Australia, obtaining a BMus Jazz qualification, many gigs as Pro sideman (Natalie Cole, Shirley Bassey, Kenny Rogers), making albums of original jazz-pop material with wife Becc Sanderson, Orchestral and Big Band works and contemporary jazz groups playing original music. They relocated to Scotland in 2000 (for the surf & sun) where Greive sat as Lead Trombone of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra for 19yrs among many commissions as well as university lecturing, mentoring and forming the award-winning NeWt trio which celebrated it’s 4th release (‘Drip’) in 2021. He is in demand as a Writer / Arranger (eg. Eddi Reader ‘Cavalier’ 2018, Joseph Malik ‘Diverse Part 3’ 2021 BBC 6Music Craig Charles show ‘Album Of The Year’) and his overall approach to Music Production make Chris one of the most diverse trombonists in Scotland.
